After you receive your Clover Go card reader, you start by activating it, which includes the following steps:
- Download the Clover Go app onto your phone or tablet
- Log in to the Clover Go app for the first time
- Charge the Clover Go reader
- Pair the Clover Go with your phone or tablet
Once activated, you can log in to your account on the Web Dashboard and configure settings for your business, for example, taxes, tips, employees, and how you handle transactions.
Download the Clover Go app
Continue activating your Clover Go system by downloading the app. You can download the Clover Go app to iOS and Android phones and tablets.
To download the Clover Go app:
- Choose a store:
- For an iOS device, go to the Apple Store.
- For an Android device, go to the Google Play Store.
- At the store, search for the Clover Go app.
- Download the app and install it on your device.
To log in to the Clover Go app during activation:
- Open the Clover Go app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap New User at the bottom of the screen. (Regular users tap Log In.)
- Enter your email and password using your Clover Web Dashboard login credentials.
- (Optional) Tap Allow if you want to let Clover send you messages. Messages keep you informed about the system.
- Tap Proceed to help identify where transactions take place.
- Tap Allow to allow location access for fraud protection.
- Enter the user passcode you use for Clover devices. If you don’t have a passcode, you can set one now.
- (Optional) Select Enable Touch ID or Enable Face ID if you have these features on your phone or tablet and you want to use them.
- Complete this step for your Clover Go device:
- Contactless + Chip (Bluetooth-enabled Clover Go reader): You'll be asked if you want to pair your device using Bluetooth.
Important: Do not wear headphones or ear buds while when your reader connects. A high pitched connection sound blasts from the phone or tablet. - Chip Card reader (Clover Go reader): Insert the card reader into the audio jack on your phone or tablet.
- Contactless + Chip (Bluetooth-enabled Clover Go reader): You'll be asked if you want to pair your device using Bluetooth.
- Follow the prompts to complete the setup sequence.
The Clover Go app opens to your primary Clover merchant account. You'll see your primary merchant information at the top of the screen.
After you log in for the first time during activation, you can log in one user or different users (typically employees) to a single account, or if you have multiple accounts, you can switch accounts after you're logged in to the app. See Log in to the Clover Go app for instructions.
Charge the Clover Go reader
You can charge the Bluetooth-enabled Clover Go reader using the micro USB cable that comes with it.
To charge the Clover Go reader:
- Insert the USB charging cable into a laptop USB port, a portable charger, or a wall charger (not included). If you purchased the optional stand, you can charge the reader in the stand.
- Allow the reader to charge for 1 to 2 hours, until both lights continuously glow.
After you charge the Clover Go reader, you can download the Clover Go app.
Pair a Clover Go with your phone or tablet
If you have a Bluetooth-enabled Clover Go, pair your device with your phone or tablet via Bluetooth to complete the activation process.
To pair your Clover Go device with your phone or tablet:
- On your phone or tablet, open the Clover Go app.
- Enter your passcode.
- Tap Menu .
- Select Card Reader.
- If your Clover Go doesn't pair immediately, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds or until the blue light blinks.
- On your phone or tablet, select your device from the list of readers.
To help identify which device to pair with, look on your device sticker for your Clover Go serial number.
After pairing successfully, the blue light on the Clover Go stops blinking and becomes solid blue.
After you pair your Clover Go with your mobile phone or tablet, you can use the Clover Go app to take payments.
